INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC senior Jessie Miller has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 25-31. The selection marks Miller's first weekly honor from the League office this season and the third of her career.

Miller, a guard from Burnsville, Minn., recorded a career-best 29 points and five rebounds in UIC's 70-66 win at cross-town rival Loyola on Saturday. She connected on 10-of-17 from the field, 6-of-10 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line against the Ramblers.

Miller leads the Flames in scoring average (14.2), assists average (3.1), field goals (98) and three-point field goals (44) through 20 contests this season.

UIC (9-11 overall, 6-3 Horizon League) has pulled to within one game of Green Bay (18-2, 7-2) and Detroit (9-11, 7-2) in the conference standings. The top four seeds will host quarterfinal tilts in next month's Speedway Horizon League Championship.

The Flames travel to Cleveland State (10-10, 5-4) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET and Youngstown State (0-20, 0-9) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Miller will become eligible for the Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon. Log on to www.HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv to vote.
