INDIANAPOLIS – University Illinois Chicago freshman Emily Gniatczyk has been named the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee junior Kelsey George earned Women’s Diver-of-the-Week laurels for the period of Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Gniatczyk recorded two first-place finishes in a road-meet victory over Eastern Illinois University on Saturday.  The sprinter posted a 24.82 in the 50-yard freestyle which is less than two seconds off the NCAA ‘B’ qualifying standard.  Her time of 52.86 in the 100 free just missed the NCAA mark by 2.63 seconds.

The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native is honored with her first career weekly award and first for the Flames this season.

George competed in back-to-back meets last weekend, traveling to Wright State University on Friday and Eastern Michigan University on Saturday in a meet that included the University of Toledo. On Friday, George claimed first-place honors from the one-meter board with a score of 252.37 and notched second place off the three-meter board.  At EMU, the Middleton, Wis., native picked up second- and third-place accolades from both heights.
