INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee grabbed its second Horizon League road win, while Cleveland State collected its first conference victory of the year on Wednesday afternoon.

Milwaukee 1, Valparaiso 0
Playing its third straight conference match on the road, Milwaukee used an early goal and held on the rest of the way to post a 1-0 victory over Valparaiso.

Milwaukee (3-7-1, 2-2-0 Horizon) split matches last week before returning back to the highway this week. The Panthers showed no road weariness, however, striking just four minutes into the match.

Kelly Lewers sent a cross from the left side of the field, where Helen Steinhauser played it down and beat Crusaders keeper Kristen Manksi with a low shot.

Valparaiso (7-4-1, 1-1-0 Horizon) had eight shots in the match, but Jamie Forbes stopped the lone shot on goal to record her fourth shutout of the year.

Cleveland State 1, Green Bay 0
Cleveland State secured a much-needed League win, getting past visiting Green Bay, 1-0, in double overtime at Krenzler Field.

The youthful Cleveland State (4-8-0, 1-2-0 Horizon) squad had gone 1-7-0 over its last eight matches, but with time running out in the match, came away with the golden goal.

Off the Vikings’ fourth corner kick of the match, Vickie Havas sent the ball into the box, where Jamie Avona’s header beat Katy Pilarzyk for her fourth goal of the season. Pilarzyk made two saves for Green Bay (3-8-1, 0-2-1 Horizon)

Sarah Wood made six saves to post her first career shutout.

Illinois State 1, Loyola 0
An 85th minute goal sent Loyola to a 1-0 loss at Illinois State on Wednesday.

After compiling a six-match unbeaten streak, Loyola (6-6-1) dropped its second consecutive 1-0 decision.

The Ramblers had 12 shots in the match, four on goal, but could not rally after Illinois State used a double header in the 85th minute to take the lead.

Kristin Papierski’s shot in the 89th minute was saved, and the Redbirds hung on for win.
