INDIANAPOLIS - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sophomore Sarah Wardecke and junior teammate Kelsey George were named Horizon League Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for the period of Oct. 5-11.

Against Big Ten-foe Wisconsin, Wardecke brought home gold in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 24.53.  In her second-place, 100 freestyle performance, the Appleton, Wis. native posted an impressive time of 53.01.

The sophomore sprinter earns her second career weekly accolade and her first since Nov. 19, 2008.

George captured first-place honors off the three-meter board, tallying a score of 294.08 in the same meet.  Her mark qualifies her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March.  She also racked up quality points for the Panthers from the one-meter height as she finished third with a score of 234.83.

The Middleton, Wis., native, takes home her first career weekly award.

Milwaukee takes a few weeks off before returning to Big Ten competition on Oct. 23 when it travels to Iowa City for tri-meet with University of Iowa and Michigan State University.
