INDIANAPOLIS - The Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships will return to southeast Wisconsin for the first time since 2005, the League office announced. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will be the host for this year's event that will be held Feb. 25-28 at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center at the Rite-Hite Family YMCA in Brown Deer, Wis.

The Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center is located 12 miles north of downtown Milwaukee. The facility previously was the site for the Horizon League Championships in 2001 and 2005.

"We are really looking forward to hosting the Horizon League Championships at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center for the first time in four years. The facility is in close proximity to many of the League schools and has been host to many regional and national meets," said UWM head coach Erica Janssen, who took over head coaching duties earlier this week after two years as the Panthers' top assistant. "We are looking forward to having many family and friends there to support us at the championships. The availability of seating for all fans will create an exciting atmosphere for the student-athletes who are competing."

Wright State University is the two-time defending Horizon League men's swimming and diving champion and has won five of the last six titles, while the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has captured the last four women's championships.

"We are excited to bring the Horizon League Championships back to the Milwaukee area this coming season and host the event with the UWM staff," said Stephanie Jarvis, Associate Commissioner at the Horizon League and director of the event. "Our student-athletes will enjoy competing at the Schroder Aquatic Center, and we know the local swimming community will be very supportive of the event."

Ticket prices will be announced at a later date.
