Taking part in tournaments, both Milwaukee and Valparaiso were impressive on Sunday, rolling past Texas Southern and Duquesne, respectively.

Valparaiso 84, Duquesne 68
Wrapping up the 2k Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, Valparaiso rolled past Duquesne, 84-68, at the Athletics-Recreation Center. With the win, the Crusaders went 3-0 in the subregional round, knocking off Akron, IU-Kokomo and the Dukes on consecutive days.

Valparaiso (5-1) shot 28-of-48 from the field, including a 9-of-20 mark from three-point range. When they weren't knocking down long balls, Kevin Van Wijk controlled the interior, as the big man went 6-of-11 from the floor and 10-for-15 from the free-throw line en route to 22 points. Van Wijk helped Valpo outscore Duquesne, 34-18, in the paint.

Ryan Broekhoff led the attack from outside, knocking down 5-of-9 attempts from three-point range. Finishing with 22 points, Broekhoff led the way on the glass with 13 rebounds. The Crusaders dominated the boards, outrebounding the Dukes, 34-17, and not allowing a second chance point in the game.

Broekhoff earned MVP honors of the subregional, with Van Wijk joining the Australian on the All-Tournament Team.

Milwaukee 73, Texas Southern 38
There was no let up in Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers raced past visiting Texas Southern, 73-38, in the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational.

Milwaukee (4-0) got out to a 25-2 lead and never looked back, allowing Texas Southern's first field goal with 6:28 gone in the first half. The Pantehrs never trailed in the game and never let the Tigers closer than 14 points at any point in the game.

Kaylon Williams played his most complete game of the year for the Panthers, leading the way with 17 points, six assists and five rebounds. 12 of 13 Milwaukee players scored in the game, with Ja'Rob McCallum joining Williams in double figures with 14 points. Milwaukee enjoyed a 45-22 edge in rebounding, as Kyle Kelm posted a career-best 10 boards.

Furman 63, Loyola 51
Leading 31-30, Loyola suffered through an 18-7 Furman run, the decisive blow in a 63-51 road setback to the Paladins.

Loyola (0-4) got a jumper from Joe Crisman with 16:01 to take its first lead of the game at 31-30, but consecutive Furman three-pointers restored the Paladin lead. The Ramblers drew to within six points at 53-47 with 5:08 left but would come no closer.

Crisman led the way with 12 points, while Christian Thomas came off the bench to contribute a season-best 11 points. Denzel Brito had his third straight game in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
