INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee sophomores Alex Chollet (Aurora, Ill.) and Sherice Hewett (Milwaukee, Wis.) have swept Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week honors, the first of the outdoor season.
The Panthers competed at the Biliken Kickoff, a brand-new meet; as a result, the first-place finisher in each event set a new meet record. The meet did not tally team scores.
Competing in a field of 10 throwers, Chollet earned first-place finishes (and meet records) in the shot put (14.86m) and hammer throw (44.02m). His shot put toss set a new personal record, and he also finished second out of 10 in the discus (45.30m).
Hewett finished first (with a meet record) in a field of five in the triple jump with an 11.97m distance. That mark was more than half a meter further than her closest competitor and stands as the fourth-longest jump in school history.
Milwaukee will return to action this weekend at the Bill Cornel Spring Classic in Carbondale, Ill.
