INDIANAPOLIS - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior forward James Eayrs has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 29.

A native of Roseville, Minn., Eayrs averaged 19.7 points and 7.7 rebounds to lead the Panthers to three wins away from home last week.

Eayrs scored 28 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including 6-of-7 three-pointers, in only 19 minutes in Milwaukee's 96-77 victory last Monday over Texas State University in the NIT Season Tip-off. He then had 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-60 win Tuesday over Colgate University in the tournament and ended the week with 16 points and eight rebounds as the Panthers extended their winning streak to four with a 90-83 overtime victory Saturday at Bowling Green State University.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Eayrs ranks third in the League in scoring (17.6 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and is the only player among the top four in both categories.

The Panthers (5-2) are off to their best start since going 6-1 to open the 2004-05 season. Milwaukee will tip-off Horizon League play with home games against the University of Illinois at Chicago (1-3) Thursday and Loyola University Chicago (4-1) Saturday.
