INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior guard Paris Gulley [Peoria, Ill./Manual (Southeastern CC)] has been named the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Panthers junior guard Jordan Aaron (Bronx, N.Y./Wings Academy (Southeastern CC)] has been named the Newcomer of the Week, for the week of Feb. 18-24. The award is the first of Gulley’s career and second of the season for Aaron.

Milwaukee (8-22, 3-12 Horizon) collected consecutive wins for the first time this season, notching a 64-53 victory over visiting UIC on Wednesday ahead of a 95-88 double-overtime win at IUPUI in the Ramada BracketBusters.

On Senior Night versus UIC, Gulley led the Panthers with 17 points, going 5-for-8 from three-point range as he reached double figures for the 19th time this season. At IUPUI, Gulley posted 20 points while adding seven rebounds. The senior hit four three-pointers in the double-overtime win, reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time in 2012-13.

At 14.5 points per game, Gulley sits eighth in the Horizon League in scoring. Gulley’s 2.1 three-point field goals per game ranks seventh in conference play.

After a nine-point, seven-rebound effort in Milwaukee’s win over UIC, Aaron led all scorers with 28 points at IUPUI, helping the Panthers earn their first road win of the year. Playing all but 40 seconds of the double-overtime game, Aaron knocked down seven three-pointers and converted the game-tying layup with 15 seconds to play in the first overtime.

Among Horizon League newcomers, Aaron’s 12.7 ppg in conference play ranks third. Aaron’s 4.1 assists per game lead all League newcomers.

Milwaukee will close its regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 26, traveling up I-43 to meet rival Green Bay (15-13, 9-5 Horizon). ESPN3 will carry the game exclusively, beginning at 8 p.m. EST.
