Sophomore Sarah Hagen of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team has been invited to the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team training camp to take place in March in Sunrise, Fla.

Hagen, the 2009 Horizon League Player of the Year, is one of 24 players invited to the camp that will take place from March 7-12.

"This is a great honor and I'm glad I have the opportunity," Hagen said. "I am excited beyond belief and can't wait to represent our team. From the camp I hope to learn from the other players and coaches to improve my game. Hopefully it helps me take my game to the next step. It's always nice to hear and learn from other coaches. "

Hagen led the country in goals scored this season with 24 in 21 games for a 1.143 average. She also finished second in points, with 2.52 per game (53 overall).

"Looking at what Sarah has done at the collegiate level, in just two seasons, it is clear that she has some special abilities," Milwaukee head coach Michael Moynihan said. "I think it intrigues the national staff to see if it translates at that level. I'm thrilled for her. I'm sure it will be a challenging learning environment that will make her an even better player."

The Appleton, Wis., native matched her school and league record goal-scoring total from her freshman year this season and enters her junior campaign in 2010 with 48 career goals and 107 points in just two seasons. This season she posted three hat tricks, including a school-record-tying four in games against Valparaiso in the regular season and again in the league title game. She also earned all-league first team and league tournament MVP honors for the second time each and was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's All-America Third Team.
