INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior forward Sarah Hagen (Appleton, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2.  The award is the 14th of Hagen’s career and third of the season. All time, no other Horizon League player has won more than six player of the week honors in a career.

For the fifth consecutive match, Hagen recorded the game-winning goal for Milwaukee (11-1-0, 3-0-0 Horizon), this one coming in a 3-1 road win at Wright State. With the Panthers leading 1-0, Hagen took a ball played across the field to her just outside the penalty area. Hagen received and settled the ball before unleashing a shot to the far post for the score, her 14th goal of the season.

Hagen added her 15th tally of the year in the 82nd minute, taking a pass from Keara Thompson into the penalty area and sliding the ball far post and into the goal.

The Horizon League’s all-time leader with 82 career goals and 185 career points, Hagen is currently at US U23 Training Camp in Carson, Calif., until Oct. 7. US National Team coaching staff members are at the camp, evaluating players for the 2012 Olympics squad. Hagen has been the U23’s top scorer this year, scoring goals in all six of the team’s international competitions. She started each game and tallied seven goals and while adding an assist.

Sitting at No. 14 in the latest NSCAA poll, Milwaukee will host two matches at Engelmann Stadium this week. The Panthers welcome Valaparaiso on Wednesday, Oct. 5, with the Horizon League Network airing the match at 8 p.m. ET. HLN will also have Youngstown State’s trip to Milwaukee on Sunday, Oct. 9, with the match streaming live at 2 p.m. ET.
