INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee junior Simbi Laaro (Green Bay, Wis.) and Oakland sophomore Jeff Arirguzo (West Bloomfield, Mich.) have been named Horizon League Indoor Track Runners of the Week for the week of January 28-February 3.

Laaro continued her record setting indoor season at the Jack Jennett Invitational (video above). After opening the season Jan. 17 at the John Tierney Triangular in Milwaukee, Wis., with a school record 60m time of 7.50, Laaro sprinted past the time on Saturday. Her finish of 7.47 marks a new scool record and is the best time in the Horizon Leauge by .20 seconds. Laaro also took home first-place honors in the 200m with a time of 24.90, which is .02 seconds off the fastest time in the League this season.

Arirguzo reclaimed the school record in the 200m dash at the SPIRE Midwest Open on Saturday. After setting the record last season at 22.60, teammate Nicholas Girodat broke the record at the Jack Skoog Open on Jan. 17. It was Arirguzo who got the better of Girodat at the SPIRE Midwest Open, with Arirguzo finishing in third-place with a school record time of 21.93 and Girodat finishing fifth at 22.26.

Milwaukee travels to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 7-8, while Oakland takes part in the YSU National Invite on Feb. 7-8.

Other Top Runners of the Week:
Tess Ehrhardt, UIC (Jr., Geneva, Ill.) - At the Carthage Invite, Ehrhardt took top honors in the 1000m by more than 20 seconds, crossing the finish line in 2:56.15. Her time also marks a school and meet record. 
Jasmine Greene, Detroit (Jr., Pickerington, Ohio) - Part of three top five finishes in the 60m dash, 200m dash and the 4x400 relay at the Findlay Open. 
Samantha Hamilton, Youngstown State (Sr., North Jackson, Ohio) - Broke the school record in the one-mile with a time of 4:53.41 to finish third at the Penn State National Invitational.
Serena San Cartier, Oakland (Sr., Sunbury, Ontario) - Her time of 8.84 in the 60m hurdles at the SPIRE Midwest Open marks the fastest time in the League this season.
Martin Hunter, UIC (So., Wilmette, Ill.) - Took first-place in both the 60m dash (7.16) and the 200m dash (22.26) at the Olivet Nazarene Quadrangular.
Marquis Johnson, Milwaukee (So., Lac du Flambeau, Wis.) - Won the 800m at the Jack Jennett Invitational with a time of 1:55.72, which sits as the sixth best time in the League this season.
Ilia Panev, Detroit (Fr., Waterford, Mich.) - At the Findlay Open, set a personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.45.
Eric Rupe, Youngstown State (Jr., Cortland, Ohio) - Smashed his old personal best time in the 3000 meter by 13 seconds, turning in a time of 8.22.89 at the Penn State National Invitational.
