INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee junior Simbi Laaro (Green Bay, Wis.) and Youngstown State freshman Marcellus Embry (Cleveland, Ohio) have been named Horizon League Indoor Track Runners of the Week for the week of February 4-10.

Laaro continues to re-author the Milwaukee school record book and in the process, picked up her third runner of the week honor of the season. In the 60m dash at the Meyo Invitational, Laaro posted a blistering, school record time of 7.41 in the semifinals to beat 12 other runners. In the finals, she topped the field of six runners with a time of 7.50. Her semifinal time of 7.41 ranks 28th in the nation and is .26 seconds better than the second best League time.

Embry bested a field of 35 runners in the 200m dash to post his first victory of the season at the YSU Invitational. His time of 21.74 ranks as the best mark in the League this season. In the 60m, Embry posted a career best time of 7.01 that placed him third out of 28 runners.

Milwaukee and Youngstown State return to action Friday and Saturday at the GVSU Big Meet and the SPIRE Division I Invitational, respectively.

Other Top Runners of the Week:
Jacob Bowman, Oakland
(Fr., Marlette, Mich.) - Broke the Oakland freshman record in the 1-mile with a mark of 4:14.24 to place fifth. Was also part of the distance medley relay that placed first.
Adam Bruno, Valparaiso (Fr., Bloomington, Ill.) - In the 1-mile run at the Windy City Rumble, Bruno posted an adjusted time of 4:23.18 to place third.
Durell Busby, Milwaukee (Sr., Lac du Flambeau, Wis.) - Posted a 60mH finals time of 8.01 at the Meyo Invitational to place third. His time is the best 60mH mark in the League this season.
Joshua Carolin, Detroit (So., Novi, Mich.) - Set a personal best in the 800m at the YSU Invitational, registering a time of 1:54.07.
Kyle Hauser, UIC (Fr., Palos Heights, Ill.) - Placed first in the 800m run at the Windy City Rumble with an adjusted time of 1:58.60.
Elizabeth Bloy, Valparaiso (Fr., Freedom, Wis.) - Posted a season best time of 5:02.80 in the 1-mile at the Meyo Invitational to place 19th.
Tess Ehrhardt, UIC (Jr., Geneva, Ill.) - Placed 13th at the Meyo Invitational in the 5000m run and in the process, her time of 17:09.90 smashed the UIC school record by nearly 20 seconds and her personal best by 35 seconds.
Nina Grambling, Youngstown State (So., Canton, Ohio) - Placed second in the 60m dash and third in the 200m dash at the YSU Invitational with times of 7.68 and 25.32, respectively.
Shannon Marchant, Detroit (Sr., London, Ontario) - Posted three second-place finishes at the YSU Invitational, including a personal best in the 400m.   
Serena San Cartier, Oakland (Sr., Sudbury, Ontario) - Improved upon her League best time of 8.75 in the 60mH at the YSU Invitational.
