INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee junior forward Kelly Lewers (Homewood, Ill.) is the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Oakland sophomore defender Sarah Reynolds (Auora, Ontario, Canada) has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 21-27.

Milwaukee defeated both Green Bay and Youngstown State this week. The Panthers shutout Green Bay, 2-0, to reach win number 300 in program history, and won a 3-2 thriller versus Youngstown State. After starting the season 0-2 in Horizon League play, Oakland has posted four straight shutouts to push its Horizon League record to 4-2-0, including this weekend’s win at Cleveland State (1-0). The Golden Grizzlies also scored a 1-0, non-League road victory at IUPUI earlier in the week.

On Wednesday, Lewers scored a pair of goals in the Panthers’ 2-0 win over Green Bay. Her first goal came in the 55th minute. The striker followed that up with an unassisted goal in the 61st minute. On Saturday, Lewers was involved in two of the three scoring plays against Youngstown State. She found the back of the net in the 20th minute to knot the score, 1-1. She then assisted on Kelsey Holbert’s game-winner in the 86th minute to seal a 3-2 victory. For the week, Lewers had four shots on goal, three goals, and one assist.

Reynolds led Oakland to their fifth straight win and fourth straight Horizon League win. The Golden Grizzlies five straight wins is the longest in team history since 1996, and the team’s longest win streak as a Division I program. For the week, Reynolds anchored a defense that allowed just four shots on goal in 180 minutes. In Oakland’s shutout road victory versus Cleveland State, the Golden Grizzlies held the Vikings to just three shot attempts, the team’s lowest home total of the season.

Oakland and Milwaukee close out their Horizon League slate when they meet on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the OU Soccer Field. The game is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff with coverage on HLN.
