INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee sophomore Elise Sigg (Pecatonica, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League Women’s Runner of the Week, while her teammate, sophomore Samia Taylor (Madison, Wis.) has earned Horizon League Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, for the week beginning Jan. 10.

Opening the season at the Badger Track Classic in Madison, Wis., Sigg took the 3,000-meter title, crossing the line in 10:05.84 after a track size conversion.  Just missing out on her indoor personal best, Sigg’s time is the second-best in the Horizon League during the first month of the indoor season.

Returning to her hometown, Taylor bested competition from Wisconsin, Marquette, Eastern Illinois, DePaul and Northern Illinois, posting a triple jump of 40’3 1/4” to capture the title.  The only woman in Panther history to jump over 40 feet, Taylor’s leap is the top in the Horizon League this year.

Milwaukee returns to the track on Saturday, Jan. 22, when they host Marquette in a dual meet.  The meet begins at 11 a.m. ET from the Klotsche Center.
