INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior Dan Simon (Bristol, Wis.) and Loyola senior Candice Carajohn (Seneca, Ill.) have been named the Horizon League Field Athletes of the Week.
It is the first honor of the outdoor season for both.
Simon took first out of 11 in the decathlon at the Kansas Relays, scoring 6,429 points. The senior took first place in the 100m, 400m, long jump and pole vault while setting personal records in the 110m hurdles and javelin. He fell just shy of breaking his own school record.
The Panthers will split this weekend between the Drake Relay in Des Moines, Iowa, and the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative in Whitewater, Wis.
At the elite Mt. SAC Relays, Carajohn took third place out of a field of 13 in the long jump with a 6.01m leap. That mark leads the Horizon League this season and ranks 24th in the NCAA West Region.
The Ramblers will also participate in the Drake Relays this weekend while sending athletes to the Benedictine Twilight in Lisle, Ill., as well.
