INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior Ryan Solberg and UIC sophomore Jack Andersen have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of Mar. 24-30.

Solberg received Batter of the Week accolades after pacing UWM with a .357 batting average and a League-best eight RBIs last week. He sealed the Panthers 4-1 midweek win over Edgewood with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. On Sunday, he hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the 11th to send Milwaukee to a 10-8 come-from-behind victory over UIC. He added another home run in the second game of the day on Sunday to finish the weekend with three home runs.

Solberg leads the Horizon League in home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.569).

Andersen earned Pitcher of the Week honors after pitching eight shutout innings on Sunday against Milwaukee. The sophomore right-hander allowed a career-low four hits in the outing as he was credited with the win in the series-clinching victory for the Flames. He struck out three Panther batters in the contest and held UWM to a .154 batting average. It was the first time in his collegiate career to allow zero runs in a game he started.

Joey Hoelzel, Wright State
(Sr., RHP) - Hoelzel picked up the win on Saturday after tossing eight innings of one run ball against Youngstown State. He allowed just five hits in the outing and struck out nine Penguin batters, while walking just one. He held YSU batters to a .172 average.
Karch Kowalczyk, Valparaiso (Sr., DH) - Kowalczyk tied a career-high with four hits on Sunday at Butler. He finished the game 4-for-5 with one run driven in.
Sean Murphy, Wright State (Fr., C) - Murphy hit .545 (6-of-11) with a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the Raiders last week. He hit a three-run home run against Kent State during the week and then went 3-for-4 with two double and two runs scored in the Raiders win over YSU on Friday. He went 2-for-3 with three RBIs Saturday against the Penguins.
Jacob McNamara, UIC (Sr., DH) - McNamara hit .600 (9-of-15) for the Flames last week. He scored six runs and drove in two more to lead UIC to its first series win over Milwaukee since 2010.
Jason Shirley, Youngstown State (Jr., OF) – Shirley had hits in all three games for the Penguins last week, finishing 5-of-10 at the plate. He was 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs in the win over Ohio. He went 1-for-3 with a run scored in both games against Wright State.
Robert Switka, Youngstown State (Sr., RHP) – Switka did not allow a run in five innings of relief against Wright State on Saturday. He surrendered just two hits and two walks, while striking out four Raider batters.
Tell Taylor, Milwaukee (Jr., RHP) - Taylor posted a perfect 0.00 ERA in two games last week. He picked up the save against Edgewood and recorded the victory with a scoreless inning against UIC on Sunday.
