INDIANAPOLIS - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior midfielder Sarah Teegarden has been named Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 13-19. It is Teegarden's third career weekly honor from the League office and her first this season.

Teegarden, a Batavia, Ill., native, had five points in No. 22 Milwaukee's only match last week, a 5-0 win over Butler University last Friday. The Panthers and Bulldogs were tied for first in the Horizon League standings at the time of the contest.

Teegarden opened Milwaukee's scoring in the 13th minute, sending a header into the net on the back end of a corner kick. She then recorded three assists in the second half of the victory. Her third helper of the contest set up teammate Sarah Hagen's school-record 17th goal of the season.

The senior was previously named Horizon League Player of the Week once each in 2005 and 2006. She is the third different Panther to claim the honor this season, following Hagen (Aug. 25, Oct. 13) and Kate Megna (Sept. 22).

Teegarden and the Panthers (13-2-2, 5-1-0 HL) play twice this week, beginning with the University of Detroit Mercy (8-6-1, 4-2-0 HL) Friday at 8 p.m. ET. UWM then closes the regular season versus Valparaiso University (10-5-1, 2-4 HL) Sunday at 1 p.m.
