INDIANAPOLIS -- In voting by the conference's track and field coaches, Loyola seniors Declan Murray and Candice Carajohn have been named the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year.

Murray, who was also named the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year, was a First-Team All-American in the 800m run, finishing sixth at the NCAA Championship meet. The senior won the event at the Horizon League championships, along with the 4x400m relay. He finished the season ranked first in the conference in the 800m and 4x400m relay and ranked second in the 1500m.

Murray was an NCAA West Preliminary qualifier in the 800m and 4x400m relay and set school records in both events. He also set school records in the Sprint Medley Relay and 4x800m relay.

The senior was named to the Academic All-Horizon League team and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District Selection and a finalist for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Murray also met all the requirements for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, which will be announced at a later date.

Carajohn led the Ramblers to the first outdoor Horizon League title in school history, scoring a meet-high 32.5 points while setting new meet records in the 400m hurdles, long jump and 4x400m relay and also winning the triple jump. She qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the long jump (14th), triple jump (18th) and 400m hurdles (did not compete).

The senior holds 13 all-time Top-10 outdoor marks at Loyola. She set school records in five events, four of which were established in 2013.

Carajohn was also named to the Academic All-Horizon League team.
