Detroit 88, Eastern Michigan 83

DETROIT-If the so-called "Brandon Cotton era" of Detroit men's basketball officially made its debut on Monday night, then what an opening it was. A transfer from Michigan State, Cotton scored 27 points in his first game for Detroit, leading UDM to an 88-83 victory over Eastern Michigan at Calihan Hall. Cotton shot a sparkling 12-for-17 from the floor during his 31-minute stint, helping Detroit (3-6) to its second straight victory. Forward Torvoris Baker added a career-high 19 points for UDM, while Chuck Bailey (14) and Jon Goode (10) also scored in double figures for the Titans. Eastern (6-2) saw its four-game winning streak halted in Calihan.
