The Green Bay Phoenix will face No. 9 Purdue in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship after winning the Little Caesars Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship. Earning the No. 8 seed in the Lexington, Kentucky Region, Green Bay will play on Friday, March 17 in South Bend, Ind.
Green Bay earned the automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament after defeating Detroit Mercy in the championship game of the Horizon League Tournament. This is the sixteenth appearance in the NCAA Tournament as a member of the Horizon League for the Phoenix including the third year in a row. Of the 15 previous trips to the tournament, Green Bay is highlighted by the Sweet Sixteen run made in 2011 which included defeating No. 12 UALR and No. 4 Michigan State.
