Northern Kentucky, winners of the Little Caesars Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship, will face No. 2 seed Kentucky in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. The Norse will play Friday in Indianapolis as the No. 15 seed in the South region. Game times will be announced later tonight.

Northern Kentucky earned the Horizon League’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament last Tuesday by topping Milwaukee at Joe Louis Arena in the Motor City Madness final. The Norse became just the seventh team in college basketball history and only the second since 1970 to earn a berth into the NCAA Championship in their first eligible season.

Horizon League teams boast a combined 33 NCAA Tournament wins, including two trips to the national championship game, seven Sweet 16 appearances and nine multi-bid seasons.
