INDIANAPOLIS -- Northern Kentucky senior Courtney Roush (Louisville, Ky.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Oakland’s Taylor Jones (Detroit, Mich.) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31.

Northern Kentucky went a perfect 2-0 on the week while on the road in Northeast Ohio. The Norse picked up a dominating 83-51 victory at the Wolstein Center over Cleveland State after the team shot 45.5 percent from the field and sunk 11 triples. To close out the weekend, Northern Kentucky defeated Youngstown State 88-77 at the Beeghly Center after a strong first quarter en route to a solid first half. The Norse posted 30 points in the first quarter and 50 points by the halfway mark to equal season highs for the squad this year.

Roush scored a career-high of 22 points in the victory over Cleveland State then tallied a team-high 20 points in win against Youngstown State. The senior went 15-for-22 (.682) from the field, 3-for-5 (.600) from beyond the arc and 9-for-14 (.643) from the charity stripe over the course of the two contests. Roush averaged 21.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 spg and 1.5 apg for the Norse in her 58 minutes on the court.

Oakland split the week defeating No. 22 Green Bay at the Kress Center 58-56 before falling to Milwaukee 77-64. The victory against the Phoenix snapped their 14-game winning streak dating back to November 28. The win marks Oakland’s first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 21 South Dakota State, 67-51, on Jan. 5, 2009. They are currently 4-10 all-time against ranked opponents in the Division I era.

Jones scored five of her 12 points with under 1:32 remaining in the contest against Green Bay, including the game-winning layup with 22 seconds left in regulation. The freshman followed-up her heroic performance at the Kress Center with a team-high 14 points at Milwaukee. Jones averaged 13.0 ppg off the bench for Oakland while shooting 10-for-22 (.455) from the field, 4-for-11 (.364) from three-point range and 2-for-5 (.400) from the free throw line.
