Crusaders Score Five in the Second Half to Mount Comeback Against WSU -- Box Score
The Valparaiso men’s soccer team made it known to the Horizon League that they will not go down lightly, scoring five second half goals to knock off second place Wright State, 5-2.
The comeback for the Crusaders started just under a minute after the Raiders had gone up 2-0 in the 52nd minute. In what would be a very intense and emotional second half, Valpo was awarded a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Just as in their previous game against IUPUI, junior midfielder Jordan Aidoud (Lyon, France, CEFAM) stepped up to the line and sent one to the right of the goalie to cut the lead to one. Read more
Men's Soccer Falls at Valparaiso -- Box Score
The Wright State men's soccer team led 2-0 in the second half, only to see Valparaiso rally for five goals down the stretch for a 5-2 victory in Horizon League action Friday night at Brown Field.
Sophomore forward Marquis Payton gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead just before the halftime break as he scored his second goal of the season at the 44:41 mark. Payton connected on a shot from 25 yards out over the Crusader goalkeeper Nico Campbell into the upper left corner. Read more
Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision at Denver -- Box Score
DENVER - The UIC men's soccer team (5-4-2) suffered a 1-0 loss Friday night to Denver (7-4-1) at CIBER Field. The Flames could not come up with the equalizer after the Pioneers scored the lone goal of the game in the fifth minute.
UIC was held to three shots in the contest with contributions from redshirt-junior Thomas Villamil, junior Manny Chavez and senior Jesus Torres. Denver tallied nine attempts and maintained a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks. Read more
Pliakos Scores Twice in Detroit's 3-0 Win Over Green Bay -- Box Score
DETROIT (10/11/2014) -- Freshman Spiro Pliakos (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) scored two first-half goals and senior Matt Ybarra (Irvine, Calif. / Ann Arbor Huron) added a goal and an assist Saturday as the University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Green Bay at Titan Field.
The Titans improved to 3-1 in the Horizon League with the victory and 6-4-2 overall. It was also Detroit's third shutout of the season and first in conference play. UDM is the first team in the league to reach three conference wins with Cleveland State (2-1 HL) hosting Horizon League leader Oakland (2-0-1 HL) tonight in a pivotal conference matchup. Read more

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s soccer team dropped its third game in a row on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 on the road to Detroit in Horizon League action at Titan Field. The Phoenix falls to 3-6-3 overall in 2014 and 0-2-1 in conference play.
The host Titans (6-4-2, 3-1-0 HL) received a two-goal performance from Spiro Pliakos, who notched his second and third goals of the season. Detroit struck first in the 15th minute before adding the second goal a little over eight minutes later in the 23rd minute. Read more

CLEVELAND - Wes Mink recorded his third-straight shutout and Cody Archibald led an excellent defensive effort that only allowed one shot on goal as Oakland defeated Cleveland State, 1-0, in men's soccer action Saturday night at Krenzler Soccer Field. The Golden Grizzlies move to 3-0-1 in Horizon League play to stay in first place.
"Great win for our guys tonight against a very tough Cleveland State team on the road," said head coach Eric Pogue. "A total team effort and a very disciplined defensive performance from our men. CLEVELAND, Ohio - Playing at home for just the third time this year and the first time in Horizon League play, the Cleveland State men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match to Oakland on Saturday night at Krenzler Field.
CSU fell to 4-7 and 2-1 in the Horizon League, while the Golden Grizzlies improved to 4-5-1 and maintained their hold on first place in the league with a 3-0-1 mark. Read more

MILWAUKEE - Freshman Petter Ingebrigtsen netted the eventual game-winner and senior Laurie Bell added an insurance goal to send the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Belmont University Saturday night at Engelmann Stadium.
The Panthers (4-7-2, 1-2-1 Horizon League) put together a complete game against the Bruins (2-11-0, 0-4-0 Horizon League), outshooting their opponents by a count of 15-to-8 while also recording the shutout to earn all three points in the important conference matchup. Read more

The Bruins, building on positive momentum from Tuesday night's convincing result at Georgia State, strung together a series of chances in the first 25 minutes.
