Oakland's Felder, Milwaukee's Johnson and UIC's Dixson Collect Men's Basketball Honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Oakland junior guard Kay Felder (Detroit, Mich./Pershing) and Milwaukee junior guard Jordan Johnson (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) have been named the Horizon League Co-Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, while UIC freshman forward Dikembe Dixson (Freeport, Ill./Mingo Central (W. Va.) has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week.

Felder was named Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 29.5 points, 6.5 assists and 3.5 steals in two Oakland wins last week. The Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year opened the week with 25 points, seven assists and four steals in the Golden Grizzlies 83-72 win over Binghamton. On Saturday, Felder scored a career-high 34 points, connecting on 13-of-13 free throw attempts as the Golden Grizzlies won at Toledo, 76-64. The junior guard added six assists and three steals in the win.

For the season, Felder is leading the Horizon League in scoring and assists. He is averaging 24.6 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in every game this season. His assist average of 8.9 per game not only leads the Horizon League, but all of NCAA DI.

Oakland (6-3) is back in action on Saturday when it plays at Washington.

Johnson earned his first Player of the Week honor of his career at Milwaukee after leading the Panthers to two wins last week. The junior point guard led Milwaukee with 22 points on Wednesday as the Panthers battled back from an 11-point halftime deficit to win at Wisconsin, 68-67. Johnson hit all eight of his free throw attempts and was shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. On Sunday, Johnson ran a Milwaukee offense that scored a school-record 125 points in a 51-point win over Judson. Johnson did not attempt a field goal in the win, but did finish with nine assists and zero turnovers.

Johnson ranks second in the Horizon League and third in the DI with an average of 8.0 assists per game. With 88 assists in 11 games, he leads the nation in total number of assists. Johnson leads the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio with a 3.1 ratio.

Winners of four straight games, Milwaukee (8-3) is back on the court Thursday when it hosts South Dakota.

Dixson earned his second Freshman of the Week honor after registering his first career double-double in UIC’s game versus Illinois at the United Center on Saturday. He was 8-of-14 from the field, knocking down all three of his three-point attempts, to score 20 points. He grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-digit rebounding performance of the season. He scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half as UIC erased an 11-point halftime deficit to take as much as a five-point lead. He also handed out a career-high four assists. Dixson is the only freshman in the Horizon League this season to record a double-double.

UIC hosts Illinois State on Wednesday before closing the week at Loyola on Saturday.

Top Performers for the Week:
Jalen Billups, Northern Kentucky (Sr., F) - Billups recorded his third 20-point game of the season with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds in NKU’s 81-60 win over Norfolk State on Saturday. He converted 11-of-16 field goal attempts and continues to lead the League in shooting percentage at 66.2%.
Matt Donlan, Youngstown State (Jr., F) - Donlan scored a career-high 19 points with five rebounds and three assists at #11 Purdue on Saturday. He connected on 6-of-12 field goal attempts and tied his career-best with five three-point field goals.
Chris Jenkins, Detroit (Jr., G) - Jenkins tallied his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds in UDM’s 75-72 win over Toledo on Wednesday. He added a career-high four blocks against the Rockets.
Alec Peters, Valparaiso (Jr., F) - Peters scored 26 points in Valpo’s 71-53 win over Chicago State on Friday. He matched the program record for three-pointers without a miss as he went 6-for-6 from long-range in the contest. Earlier in the week, Peters had his second double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the Crusaders win at Indiana State.
Andre Yates, Cleveland State (Jr., G) - Yates scored a career-high 17 points with four rebounds and four assists in CSU’s loss to Ohio on Saturday.
JT Yoho, Wright State (Sr., F) - Yoho led the Raiders with 17 points at Miami (Ohio) on Sunday. He added four rebounds and three assists.

Top Freshmen for the Week:
Rob Edwards, Cleveland State (Fr., G) - Edwards scored a career-high 17 points with six rebounds and three assists in CSU’s loss on Saturday to Ohio. He hit 4-of-7 from long distance in the game.
Mark Hughes, Wright State (Fr., G) - Hughes scored a career-high 13 points, along with a career-high six rebounds, while also recording three steals in WSU’s loss to Miami (Ohio) on Sunday.
Josh McFolley, Detroit (Fr., G) - McFolley posted 16 points, three assists and three steals in UDM’s win over Toledo on Wednesday. He recorded a late steal and finished with a layup to push the Titans lead to four with 23 seconds left in the game.
Brock Stull, Milwaukee (Fr., G) - Stull came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points in the win over Judson on Sunday. He added five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in the win.
