Oakland's Kay Felder has been selected was one of 10 finalist for the 2016 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award presented by College of the Holy Cross, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. The annual honor now in its thirteenth year recognizes the top point guards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just ten.

Felder, a 5-foot-9 junior from Detroit, Mich., is vying to become the first player in NCAA history to lead the nation in both points and assists per game in the same season, ranking tops in the country in assists at 8.7 and third in points with 25.6. He has recorded 10 double-doubles this season, nine of which were 20-plus points and 10-plus assists, and has five 30-point games this season. He set a career-high with 38 points along with nine assists and six rebounds at Washington and then followed that performance with 37 points and nine assists versus then No. 1 Michigan State. In four games against Power-5 Conference opponents this season, including two ranked inside the top-5, Felder has averaged 32.0 points, 6.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds. He is the fourth Horizon League player in the past six season to be named a finalist for the award.

In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee for the 2016 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. The winner of the 2016 Bob Cousy Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show live from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, Calif. on Friday, April 8, 2016.
