Indianapolis, Ind. -- University of Wisconsin-Green Bay senior forward Joshua Okoampa and University of Illinois at Chicago freshman goalkeeper Jovan Bubonja each rank among the top ten in the nation at their respective positions, according to statistics released by the NCAA on Monday (Oct. 16). The charts include all matches played through Sunday (Oct. 15).

Okoampa ranks fifth with his 32 points, an average of 2.38 points per match. Okoampa's 13 goals (0.93 per outing) put him sixth on that list, as well. Bubonja boasts a 0.403 goals-against average, allowing only six markers in 1341 minutes to stand third among Division I goalkeepers. He is also third with a .897 save percentage.

Only four Division I players have more goals than Okoampa, with University of Notre Dame's Joseph Lapira (19) topping the list, followed by WInthrop University's Saidi Isaac (15), Boston College's Charlie Davies (14) and West Virginia University's Jarrod Smith (14). Davies has also set up six other BC goals for 34 points and an NCAA-leading 2.62 points per game.

Colgate University's David Cappuccio has yet to allow a goal, posting 740 scoreless minutes to top the GAA charts. Lehigh University's Jim Morahan is next at 0.308 and Bubonja.

Several other Horizon League players also can be found on the national charts. Wright State University's Braden Fleak leads all freshmen with his 12 goals and 1.80 points-per-game average, ranking 15th on the points chart and 12th at 0.80 goals per appearance while University of Detroit Mercy senior midfielder Vahid Assadpour is 21st with a rate of 0.53 assists per contest.

Among goalkeepers, Loyola University Chicago senior Sean Bond is rated 23rd with a 0.763 goals-against average. Wright State junior Tebias Mason and Detroit junior Sasha Boskovic stand fourth and 18th with per-game averages of 5.53 and 5.13 saves, respectively.

UW-Green Bay has jumped to the top of the Horizon League standings (5-0-0 in loop play), with Okoampa leading one of the nation's most prolific attacks. The Phoenix has scored 36 goals in 14 contests, a rate of 2.57 per outing that ranks fourth among Division I schools. The University of San Diego leads that list at 2.77 per match, with Southern Methodist University (2.73) and Winthrop (2.67) as the only other schools ahead of UWGB.

UIC's 11-2-2 overall record comes on the strength of the nation's third-ranked defense. UIC has allowed only six goals in 1,394 minutes, a goals-against average of 0.39 which trails only Lehigh (0.30) and Colgate (0.31). The Flames have a school-record nine shutouts in 2006, one behind national co-leaders Lehigh, SMU, University of Massachusetts and Northern Illinois University.

The regular-season League championship could be on the line Sunday (Oct. 22) when UW-Green Bay and UIC square off at Flames Field in Chicago. Before that match, however, each team must face its local League rival with UW-Green Bay visiting the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday (Oct. 18) and UIC traveling to cross-town foe Loyola on Friday (Oct. 20).
