INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State junior Cassandra Lloyd (Springfield, Ohio) and Youngstown State senior Alisha Anthony (Van Wert, Ohio) are the Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week and Loyola sophomore Declan Murray (Strongsville, Ohio) and Valparaiso senior Jarrett Mickens (Aurora, Ill.) earned Horizon League Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolades.

Lloyd competed at the prestigious Penn State Relays last weekend where she set a school record in the 100 meter hurdles, currently ranking her first in the League. She placed fourth out of 27 competitiors in the event, finishing in a time of 13.31.

Anthony also competed at the Penn State Relays, placing fourth in both the long jump and triple jump events. She set a new school record in the triple jump(12.43m) and recorded a leap of 6.00m in the long jump. Anthony is currently leading the League in the long jump and is ranked second in the triple jump.

Murray won the 800 meter run at the Stay Lyons Invitational on Saturday hosted by Butler, setting a new school record for Loyola. His time of 1:49.49 broke Andre Fomby’s previous record set in 1988 and is currently leading the League.

Mickens also competed at the Stan Lyons Invitational, breaking his own school record in the long jump event by four inches. His leap of 7.48m is currently leading the League by eight inches. He is also ranked third in the League in the triple jump.

The 2011 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for May 6-8 and will take place at the Michael A. Carroll Track Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., hosted by Butler University. On Friday, events will begin at 2pm(EST) beginning with the decathlon and heptatlon, followed by the men’s discus at 3:30pm and the women’s discus at 6pm. Fridays competition will end with the 10,000 meter run beginning at 8pm for the men and 8:45pm for the women.
