LISLE - Milwaukee leads the men's and women's competitions after the second day of the 2010 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This year's event at Benedictine University wraps up on Sunday.

On the men's side, Milwaukee (69 points) leads Youngstown State (39), Butler (37), Valparaiso (27), Detroit (16), UIC (16), and Loyola (12).

On the women's side, Milwaukee (76 points) leads Youngstown State (59), Butler (27), Wright State (15), UIC (14), Detroit (13), Loyola (12), and Valparaiso (1).

Saturday's action featured two outdoor championship record setters. Milwaukee senior Dan Simon took seven of ten events in the decathlon (100-meter, long jump, high jump, 400-meter, discus, pole vault, and 1500-meter), totaling 6,464 points, tying the Horizon League record; while UWM senior Jenni Parish set a new record in the heptathlon claiming four of seven competitions (high jump, long jump, javelin, and 800 meter), winning the event with 5,027 points.

Other men's event champions included Loyola sophomore Josh Stein in the 10,000 meter (30:46.08), Milwaukee sophomore Jake Whitewater in the long jump (7.19 meters), UWM senior Quinn Mongoven in the high jump (2.10 meters), UWM sophomore Matt Jensen in the discus (47.59 meters), Valparaiso sophomore Vinnie Liuzzo in the javelin (50.28 meters), and Butler senior Stephen Lisgo in the steeplechase (8:54.20).

Other women's event champions included Butler freshman Lauren McKillop in the 10,000 meter (36:35.80), Milwaukee senior Beth Zimmerman in the long jump (5.87 meters), Youngstown State senior Jen Grayson in the high jump (1.63 meters), Detroit senior Brittany Horne in the discus (44.04 meters), Parish in the javelin (38.28 meters), and YSU freshman Samantha Hamilton in the steeplechase (11:07.72).

Competition begins on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
