Horizon League Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

 

Scott Overall

Butler, Jr., Twickenham, England

Overall completed an impressive double against elite competition at the Oregon Invitational over the weekend.   The junior ran 14:11 to finish 11th in what turned out to be the fastest 5000m on US soil this season.  Later in the meet, he ran a league-best 4:07 to claim 5th in a mile field of elite collegians and professional athletes.

Timeka Walker

UW-Milwaukee, Jr., Milwaukee, Wis.

Walker won three events, including a relay, to lead the Panthers to a commanding win at the Benedictine Invite last weekend. She topped the field in the 100m with a time of 12.11 and ran her first sub-25.00 time of the season in winning the 200m in 24.92. With the 4x100m relay, she helped the corps to a time of 47.39, second-best in school history. Milwaukee scored more points at the meet than second, third and fourth places combined

Sara O'Mara

UIC, Sr., Hinsdale, Ill.

O'Mara recorded three top 10 finishes to lead the UIC women's track and field team on Saturday at the Illinois Open at the University of Illinois Outdoor Track and Field Stadium. O'Mara took ninth in the discus (36.13m) and then finished 10th in both the shot put (12.30m) and hammer throw (47.41m).

 

Jill Britton

Wright State, Jr., Newwark, Ohio

Britton jumped a height of 3.20 meters in the pole vault at the Wilmington Invitational on Saturday.

 

Tiffany James

Detroit, Fr., Westland, Mich.

James finished seventh among collegians (eighth overall) in the 100 meters with a time of 12.27, a personal record and the second best time by a Titan all-time. She finished seventh among collegians (13th overall) in the 200 meters with a time of 26.07. She also anchored a leg of the 4x400 meter team that won the race among collegians (second overall) with a time of 4:02.45 and was a part of the fourth place 4x100 meter team that ran a time of 48.33, the seventh best relay time in Titan history.

 

Yandeh Joh

Youngstown State, So., Cleveland, Ohio

Joh set the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a third-place time of 1:02.47 at the Northeast Ohio Invitational. She added a time of 14.91 in the 100m hurdles, which ranks fifth in school history and was good enough for fifth place.

 

Brandon Cook

UIC, Sr., Decatur, Ill.

The UIC men's track and field team racked up five top-four finishes on Saturday as the Flames competed at the Illinois Open at the University of Illinois Outdoor Track Stadium. Senior Brandon Cook led the way for UIC, placing second in the 200-meter dash (22.18) while posting a season-best time of 10.86 in the 100-meter dash en route to a third place finish.

 

Damian Wright

Youngstown State, Sr., Plantation, Fla.

Wright was the top scorer on the men's side with a second-place and personal-best time of 21.77 in the 200 and a fourth-place, personal-best time of 10.84 in the 100. His time in the 200 ranks fifth in YSU history, and his time in the 100 ranks seventh all-time.

 

Jeremy Majors

UW-Milwaukee, Jr., Jonesboro, Ga.

Majors won the 400m and ran with the first-place 4x400m relay to help the Panthers to a decisive win at the Benedictine Invitational. He ran a personal-best time of 48.49 in winning the 400m and helped the relay to a time of 3:19.65. UWM scored more points at the meet than second, third and fourth places combined.

 

Marcus Davis

Detroit, So., Fairlawn, Ohio

Davis finished third in 800 meters among collegians (sixth overall) with a time of 1:52.62. That was a personal record and the third best time by a Titan all-time. He also was a part of the 4x400 meter team that finished second with a time of 3:20.18.
