Milwaukee clinched the Horizon League women’s soccer regular-season title with a draw against Northern Kentucky. The Panthers clinched the No. 1 overall seed and will host the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Tournament Nov. 5-7 at Engelmann Stadium.
Detroit 1, Valparaiso 0 (2OT): Jennifer Borawski exploded past the back line of Valparaiso and slotted the game-winning goal in double overtime to give Detroit a crucial 1-0 victory over Valparaiso at Alumni Field. Youngstown State 2, UIC 1: Seniors Tyesha Kizer and Macey Riese each scored goals and Youngstown State held off UIC for a 2-1 victory at a rainy Farmers National Bank Field. On senior night, Riese scored her second goal of the year after a free kick from Katie Hackos in the 28th minute. The 1-0 lead stood for nearly 45 minutes when Kizer found a loose ball deep in Flames territory and drilled a shot from 20 yards out to give the Penguins a 2-0 advantage. Read more…(link)
Oakland 1, Cleveland State 0: Oakland's Brianne Horne scored the game's lone goal off a corner kick in the 53rd minute to give Oakland a 1-0 win over Cleveland State at the Krenzler Soccer Field. Joan Sieja notched her team-leading seventh assist as the Golden Grizzlies are now unbeaten in their last eight games, going 6-0-2. Wright State 4, Green Bay 1: Behind two goals from Natalie Sedlock, Wright State captured its third straight win, this one coming 4-1 over Green Bay 4-1 at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Milwaukee 0, Northern Kentucky 0 (2OT): Milwaukee clinched the No. 1 overall seed for the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship with a 0-0 draw against Northern Kentucky at Engelmann Stadium. The stout Panthers defense allowed just two shots on goal, which Paige Lincium turned away for the shutout.
