Valparaiso University senior forward Alec Peters has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America Third Team, as announced today by the coaches group.
With Peters leading the way, the Crusaders won 100 games during the past four seasons. Over his career, Valpo has captured three Horizon League regular season championships, won the league tournament title and earned an NCAA Tournament berth in 2015, and advanced to the championship game of the NIT in 2016. This season, Valpo went 23-6 in his 29 starts and claimed a share of its fifth Horizon League regular season title in the last six years.
Peters' senior season will go down as one of the top seasons in program history. Peters was named the Horizon League Player of the Year, averaging 23 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in all 29 appearances, including 23 efforts of 20 or more points, while also registering 16 double-doubles.
Peters closed out his Valpo career as the program's all-time leader in scoring (2,348 points), ranking third in Horizon League history in career scoring. Peters also tops Valpo's all-time record books in rebounding (997 rebounds), field goals made (790) and free throws made (479). He is also second in program history in games played (134) and three-pointers made (289).
