Ben-Zikri has scored three career goals, and all three were game-winning goals.  He also finished the 2004 soccer season with five assists.  Horizonleague.org was curious about his accomplishments, what his thoughts were on the honors and his experiences with the Phoenix.

Q:            How has athletics affected your college experience?

A:            Athletics has really enriched my college experience.  I have been given many opportunities to meet great individuals that I wouldn't have been able to meet without athletics.  I have, most importantly, learned how to balance my life.  With so many different things going on at once, I had to adjust and become good at managing my time.

Q:            What experiences have you had with collegiate athletics?

A:            I have had some great experiences with college athletics.  Just being able to be a part of UW-Green Bay soccer has been a privilege.  I have gained so many great relationships with several coaches and players that I have learned from greatly.

Q:            What is the biggest accomplishment you made in athletics?

A:            The biggest accomplishment I have made in athletics would probably be leading my high school team to the state tournament when I was a senior.  Our high school hadn't made it to the state final in a number of years.  I felt I had a good part in completing that goal and am very proud of it.

Q:            What is it like to earn Academic All-America honors?

A:            It has been very flattering to receive such a prestigious honor.  Academics are hard enough without participating in athletics.  It has felt very good to accomplish this honor.

Q:            What has it been like being the first UW-Green Bay men's soccer player since 1987 to earn the honors?

A:            It has been great as many people have gone out of their way to congratulate me on the honor.  It's always nice to receive recognition when you work hard at something.

Q:            How does it feel to be nominated for the NSCAA Collegiate Scholar All-America team?

A:            It's actually a bit surprising.  I never really knew that I was even being considered or in the running for this team.  Being able to make the second team has been a great honor for me.

Q:            What was it like for you to score three game-winning goals?

A:            Any soccer player will tell you that scoring the game-winning goal is the best feeling possible.  I have been blessed to be a part of some good goals and have been fortunate to score several as well.

Q:            What game was the most exciting for you to play?

A:            My freshman year against UW-Madison was the most exciting game for me as of yet.  We went into double-overtime and I was fortunate enough to score the game-winning goal off of a great assist by Kyle Sillars.

Q:            What are your goals for your final season with the Phoenix?

A:            We have set very high goals for ourselves next season as we return most of our starters.  Our goal is to be in the top two teams of the Horizon League and to win the Horizon League Tournament to play in the NCAA Tournament.  Anything short of these goals would be a disappointment to our team.
