Quilliec, Tomeckova Named Swimmers of the Week and Sposet Named Diver of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS—Wright State’s Clement Quilliec (Brest, France) and Oakland’s Karin Tomeckova (Bratislava, Slovakia) have been named Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week while Cleveland State’s Samantha Sposet (Westlake, Ohio) has been named the Horizon League Women’s Diver of the Week for the week of Nov. 5-11.
Quilliec earns his second Horizon League honor this season with a dominating individual performance in a dual meet against IUPUI. The freshman collected victories in the 100-breast, 200-breast and 200-individual medley. He swam the 100-breast in a time of 57.91, the 200-breast with a time of 2:06.56 and the 200-individual medley in a time of 1:54.83.
Tomeckova won seven events in back-to-back days of dual meets over the weekend. Her five individual victories came in the 100-back in a time of 56.93 and 200-back with a time of 2:05.90 against Bowling Green. At Eastern Michigan, Tomeckova won the 100-back in a time of 56.62, 200-back with a time of 2:02.26 and 200-individual medley in a time of 2:06.60. She was also a member of two winning 200-medley relays for the Golden Grizzlies.
Sposet claimed victories on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards in two dual meets for the Vikings. Against St. Bonaventure, she posted scores of 254.33 on the 3-meter and 244.35 on the 1-meter. At Niagara, Sposet took the 1-meter title with a score of 260.17 and won the 3-meter with a score of 249.97.
Oakland returns to OU Aquatic Center to host Wayne State Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The Vikings are back in the water for the CSU Magnus Invitational on Nov. 22-24 while the Raiders take a break from competition before the Miami Invitational in Oxford December 5-7.
