Reilly, Mauel Earn Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior Jake Reilly and Green Bay freshman Sarah Mauel have been named Horizon League Runners of the Week for the period of Sept. 3-9.

Reilly opened his senior season in fine fashion last Saturday as he won the Midwest Collegiate Open held at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis. Reilly won the 8K race of over 120 runners with a time of 25:51.8. He finished 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. It was the second straight year Reilly won the race as he helped UWM to team finish of fourth out of 12 teams.

Mauel, running in the second race of her collegiate career, finished in the third place at Midwest  Collegiate Open. The freshman finished the 5K course in a time of 18:24.7 to pace the Green Bay squad. The Phoenix finished in third place out of 17 teams at the event.

Milwaukee and Green Bay both compete again on Saturday when they compete in the Concordia Invitational in Mequon, Wis.
