Green Bay, Wis. - Jean Rivett will return to the UW-Green Bay softball program as head coach, assistant athletics director Dan McIver announced Friday. Rivett previously coached the Phoenix from 1994-96 and she takes over for Susan Beeck, who stepped down last month.
"We're excited to welcome Jean back to UW-Green Bay," said McIver, who has administrative oversight of the softball program. "Her years of dedication to the sport will serve our softball program well."
Rivett has played and coached softball in Northeast Wisconsin for over 20 years. She is a member of the National Softball Coaches Association, a past president of the Fox Valley Classic League and has organized numerous clinics throughout Wisconsin.
Prior to coming to UW-Green Bay, Rivett was also an assistant at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis. for 10 years and Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. for four years. She joined the UW-Green Bay coaching staff in 1993 as an assistant before taking over as head coach for three years from 1994-96. Rivett owns a 43-85 coaching record at the NCAA Division I level.
"I am really looking forward to returning to UW-Green Bay," said Rivett. "The support from the athletics department has been wonderful. I am excited about the changes in the softball program and I know we are headed in the right direction."
Most recently, Rivett has coached the Green Bay East High School softball squad for the last four seasons. She is currently employed at St. Norbert College and has served as a personal pitching clinician at the Batter's Box in Green Bay for five years.
