Sandifer and Bonomini named Volleyball Players of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State University junior Shaunda Sandifer has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Cleveland State University senior Maggie Bonomini has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Aug. 24-30.

Sandifer, a middle blocker from Calumet City, Ill., collected 47 kills (3.62 kps) with just 12 errors en route to a .449 hitting percentage for the Raiders last week. She also registered two aces, six solo blocks, eight block assists and 59 points (4.54 pps) in 13 sets.

Sandifer was named to the VCU/Third Degree Sportswear All-Tournament Team after helping Wright State to wins over East Carolina University and Temple University on Friday.

Bonomini, a libero from Cincinnati, Ohio, recorded 64 digs (5.33 dps) in 12 sets for the Vikings last week. She reached double-figure digs in all four matches, with a high of 23 coming in the weekend finale.

Bonomini helped Cleveland State post four straight sweeps en route to the La Salle Invitational crown. The Vikings knocked off Air Force Academy and Canisius College on Friday before topping Fairleigh Dickinson University and the host Explorers on Saturday.

Cleveland State (4-0) returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Robert Morris University for a 7 p.m. ET match. Wright State (2-1) is back on the hardwood Saturday when it travels to Oakland University for a 7 p.m. tilt.
