INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior Kerri Schuh has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Cleveland State senior Megan Barhorst has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Aug. 29-Sept. 4.

Schuh, an outside hitter from Appleton, Wis., collected 48 kills (4 kills per set) and 37 digs for the Panthers last week. The 2010 Conference Player of the Year had a career-high 24 kills while hitting .429 against IPFW and also had 15 kills and 17 digs versus Drake in the final match of the weekend. For the weekend, Schuh averaged 4 kills, 3.08 digs and 0.75 blocks per set as she was named Most Valuable Player of the Sheraton West Des Moines Drake Invitational. Milwaukee plays its first home matches of the season this week, hosting Northern Illinois Tuesday and the Milwaukee Invitational this weekend.

Barhorst, a middle blocker from Maria Stein, Ohio, had 11 blocks in helping the Vikings go 3-1 last week. For the weekend, Barhorst had 22 kills, a hitting percentage of .308, one assist, four aces and four digs. Barhorst and her Viking teammates travel to Kent State on Tuesday to face the Golden Flashes before returning home this weekend to host the CSU Tournament.

Other Top Performers for the Week:
Maureen Bamiro, Butler (Sr., MB) - Bamiro was named to the Portland Classic All-Tournament team after recording 16 blocks and 34 kills in four matches. She averaged 1.14 blocks per set, including nine versus Washington State.

Jackie Carlisle, Youngstown State (So., OH) - Carlisle averaged 3.24 kills per set last week, including a career-high 24 kills in YSU’s five-setter against SEMO. She hit at least .280 in all four matches and had 12 kills or more in three.

Kara Koch, Cleveland State (Jr., OH) - Koch averaged 3.15 kills and 3.15 digs per set to help CSU go 3-1 last week. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Spartan Challenge.

Taylor Root, Valparaiso (Jr., L) - Root led Valpo in both digs per set and service aces as she was named to the All-Tournament team at the Marriott Volley Brawl. Root had 12 digs or more in all four matches and had just one service reception error in 47 attempts.

Sara Sternard, UIC (Fr., MH) - Sternard had a hitting percentage of .387 with 31 kills as she was named to the Chicagoland Challenge All-Tournament team.
