Bowling Green 54, Wright State 41
Wright State led by four points early in the second half, but a 13-0 Bowling Green run proved to be the difference as the Falcons defeated the Raiders, 54-41, at the Stroh Center.
Tied at 22 at the half, three-pointers by Cole Darling and Reggie Arceneaux gave Wright State (5-3) a 32-28 advantage; AJ Pacher would stake the Raiders to a 34-31 lead, but Bowling Green followed with the decisive 13-0 run over a five-minute span, six of those coming from Richaun Holmes on consecutive three-point plays as the Falcons grabbed momentum.
Wright State closed the deficit to three at 44-41 on a Darling basket and an Arceneaux three with 5:42 to play, but could get no closer as the Falcons scored the game's final 10 points.
The Raiders scored the first four points of the contest on a Matt Vest dunk and a Kendall Griffin steal and layup, but found the offense hard to come by the rest of the half as WSU managed seven field goals altogether. Bowling Green, meanwhile, also struggled as the Falcons were nine of 30 from the field overall, including one of 10 from behind the arc.
Bowling Green shot 33 percent for the contest compared to 38 percent for the Raiders, but the Falcons hit 19-of-21 free throws, 16-of-18 in the second half; Wright State was five of six and did not attempt a foul shot after halftime.
Arceneaux led WSU with 13 points, 10 in the second half, while Darling had eight as did Miles Dixon off the bench.
A'uston Calhoun paced Bowling Green (4-4) with 19 points, all but two coming in the second half, while Jordon Crawford had 11 and Holmes nine off the bench.
