INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit forward Shareta Brown has been named the Horizon League women’s basketball Player of the Week, while Loyola guard Taylor Johnson has been named the Newcomer of the Week.

Brown averaged 31.0 points per game in two Titan victories last week to earn her third Player of the Week award this season. The sophomore forward, who also won the weekly award on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, scored 34 points, her fourth 30+point game of the season, in Detroit’s 84-54 win at IPFW on Tuesday. On Saturday, Brown scored 28 points - shooting 13-of-15 from the field - passed out five assists and had a career-high four steals in the Titans 90-43 win over Madonna.

Brown, who entered the week averaging an NCAA DI best 25.1 points per game and ranked sixth in the NCAA in field goal percentage (61.9%), shot 73.3 percent (22-of-30) from the field during the week and is now averaging 26.2 points per game and shooting 64.0 percent from the field on the season.
