INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler volleyball head coach Sharon Clark, who has guided the Bulldogs to their best start in over a decade, has been recognized by Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA) as its Coach of the Week.

Clark has the Bulldogs atop the Horizon League standings with a 14-3 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the league. This past weekend, Butler picked up a pair of victories in conference play, topping Youngstown State in five sets before sweeping past Cleveland State.

Clark touts a 232-231 record in her 16th season as a head coach and a 130-123 mark at Butler. The Bulldogs have advanced to the league tournament semifinals four times in Clark's eight seasons, including a break-out 2000 team that finished with an 18-12 record and a second-place finish at the tournament in her first season.

In May 2007, Clark was recognized as just one of six recipients nationwide of the Rebecca Howard Star Award from USA Volleyball for demonstrating a successful commitment to diversity in the sport.

The Bulldogs continue league action tonight (Oct. 8) when they battle Wright State beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio.
