INDIANAPOLIS - Milwaukee sophomore Elise Sigg and Loyola junior Josh Stein have been named Horizon League Cross Country Athletes of the Week for the period of Sept. 6-12.
Sigg, a native of Mineral Point, Wis., has won her second straight race of the season, helping the Panthers to a fourth place finish out of nine teams at the Midwest Open on Saturday. She won the 5K in a time of 17:49.5, almost 18 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Stein, a native of Aurora, Ill., helped the Ramblers to a first place finish at the Midwest Open, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. He finished the 8K race in a time of 26:01, placing fourth out of 177 runners overall.
Milwaukee will compete on Friday (Sept. 17) at the George Dales Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich., while the Ramblers will take next weekend off. Loyola is scheduled to compete again on Sept. 25that the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
