INDIANAPOLIS - Six Horizon League men's soccer players have been named to the All-Great Lakes Region team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the organization announced Wednesday. Antou Jallow and Trent Furtsch of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Ablaye Camara and Andrew Ornoch of the University of Detroit-Mercy and Scott Olsen and John Mariscalco of Butler University were named to the All-Great Lakes Region team.
Jallow, a senior forward from Uppsala, Sweden, is a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year selection and leaves UW-Milwaukee as the most prolific scorer in school and Horizon League history with 60 career goals. He also ends his career tied for first-place in the league with 133 career points. This past season, Jallow led the Horizon League in six separate categories, including 18 goals and 41 points, while leading the Panthers to a 24th ranking in the final adidas/NSCAA Top 25 poll. Furtsch, a senior defenseman from Shorewood, Wis., was a four-year starter for the Panthers. He scored seven points on two goals and three assists this past season and ended his career at UWM with 20 points on three goals and 14 assists.
Camara, a senior forward from Conakry, Guinea, finished his career at Detroit ranked second in the school in goals (36), points (98) and assists (26). His assist and point totals place him 10th all-time in the Horizon League, while his goal total rank him 11th all-time. He was a three-time All-Horizon League honoree while leading the Titans to semifinal and championship appearances in the last two seasons. Ornoch, a sophomore midfielder from Toronto, Ontario, led the Titans in goals (12), points (27) and shots on goal (25) while ranking second in shots (47) and game-winners (3). Ornoch finished among the conference leaders in seven categories.
Olsen, a junior midfielder/forward from Chicago, Ill., led the Bulldogs in goals (9), assists (8) and points (26) and placed in the top five of the Horizon League in each of those categories in 2004. Mariscalco, a junior defenseman from Dayton, Ohio, was a mainstay for the Butler defense, which allowed the fewest goals (20) this season in the Horizon League.
