Most Valuable Player

Jamie Perkins, Wright State
Freshman * P/OF *Convoy, Ohio
Perkins took home the MVP and pitching awards at the 2007 Horizon League Championship after going 2-0 in the circle and registering a .500 batting average at the plate. She allowed no earned runs in her 10.2 innings, surrendering only five hits while also tallying a save. Perkins went 7-for-14, good for the second-highest batting average of the tournament.

Christa Coppus, Cleveland State
Sophomore * SS * Tiffin, Ohio
Coppus did her part at the plate for the runner-up Vikings at the 2007 Championship, hitting .545(12-for-22) with three doubles, seven runs and an RBI in CSU's six contests. She finished the tournament with the most hits (12), runs scored (7) and total bases (15). Her 12 hits broke Stephanie Taylor's (Cleveland State) 2003 record for hits in the tournament.

2007 Horizon League All-Tournament Team

Allison Cox, Wright State
Freshman * RHP / DP * Chillicothe, Ohio
Cox started all four of the Raiders' games at the Softball Championship, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.91 ERA in 18.1 innings of work. She struck out six and walked four. Cox also had a solid offensive tournament with four singles in 10 at-bats (.400 BA).

Kristen Farley, Wright State
Senior * DP / LF * Marysville, Ohio
Farley picked up WSU's biggest hit of the tournament when she belted a three-run, eighth-inning double in the championship contest. She finished the tournament with a .286 batting average (4-for-14) and knocked in a team-high five runs.

Malerie Klingler, Wright State
Freshman * 2B * Oakwood, Ohio
Klingler turned in a flawless defensive performance and hit .417 (5-for-12) in Wright State's four contests. She committed zero errors in 22 chances at second base.

Jacqueline Macy, Wright State
Junior * 1B * Middletown, Ohio
Macy had a strong offensive showing at the 2007 loop summit as she finished with a .467 average (7-for-15). She belted a triple, while knocking in three runs and scoring two more. In the field, Macy was perfect in 23 chances at first base.

Lia Gordon, Cleveland State
Freshman * DP * Leavittsburg, Ohio
Gordon found her home run swing at the League Championship, crushing three home runs including a walk-off, ninth-inning blast against Butler on Friday evening. Entering the tournament with just one long ball on the year, Gordon hit one in three consecutive games of the tourney. She finished with the second-most total bases (14) and the highest slugging percentage (.824).

Amanda Macenko, Cleveland State
Freshman * RHP * Brunswick, Ohio
Macenko set a CSU single-season record when she picked up her 25th win of the campaign in the Vikings' 5-2 victory over Loyola on Friday. She finished the tournament with a 3-2 mark, 2.21 ERA and 21 strikeouts in a tournament-record 38.0 innings in the circle. She started all six of Cleveland State's games and went the distance in four.

Sarah Clynes, UIC
Sophomore * RHP / DP * St. Louis, Mo.
Clynes pitched all but five innings for the Flames, allowing just three earned runs in 27.0 innings (0.78 ERA). She worked a 12-inning complete game in Friday's 2-1 victory over Loyola, striking out seven while issuing no free passes. For the tournament, Clynes fanned 18 and walked three en route to her 2-1 mark.

Brooke Frydendall, UIC
Freshman * SS * Corona, Calif.
Frydendall led UIC offensively with a .500 BA and .563 slugging percentage. She had one double and two RBI, while scoring three runs in the four games.

Jenny Jacobs, Butler
Junior * CF * Indianapolis, Ind.
Jacobs took over the League lead in RBI with an impressive showing in the Bulldogs' four games. She hit .467 (7-for-15) with three doubles and five RBI. Jacobs also played solid center field for Butler, making no errors in six chances including an assist.

Nikki Naffziger, Butler
Junior * RHP * Indianapolis, Ind.
Naffziger did everything she could to keep Butler alive in the championship, going 1-0 with a 0.47 ERA in 15.0 innings. She went the distance against Detroit on Friday, giving up six hits while striking out six and walking two.

Horizon League News & Notes

Wright State Raiders
- Wright State (25-33), which is making its second appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2003), is just one of two teams in the 64-team field with a below .500 record, the other being Furman (21-34-1).

- The Raiders, who were the seventh seed at the Horizon League Championship, went 4-0 to claim the title, capped off by a 7-3 win in eight innings Saturday over host Cleveland State 7-3 in the championship game.

- WSU had five student-athletes on the 12-member All-Tournament Team. Freshman Jamie Perkins led the way as she earned both the tournament's Most Valuable Player and Pitching Awards. Fellow freshmen Allison Cox and Malerie Klingler along with senior Kristen Farley and junior Jacqueline Macy round out the quintet. Freshman centerfielder Briauna Birl was also honored as the tournament's top defensive player.

- It was an all-around effort in the Raiders' Cinderella run through the Horizon League Championship. Wright State made only four errors in 123 total chances, leading the tournament with a .969 fielding percentage. The pitching staff posted a tourney-best 1.21 ERA, while the offense led all teams with a .307 batting average.
