INDIANAPOLIS - Butler freshman Meaghan Sullivan has been named the Horizon League Softball Batter of the Week, while Cleveland State senior Amanda Macenko has earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending April 4.
Sullivan piloted the Bulldogs to a 5-2 week, including a series win over UIC as Butler took two of three from the Flames. For the week, she hit .556 (10-for-18) going six-for-nine in the UIC series and four-for-six in two non-conference wins against Eastern Illinois. The Wheaton, Ill., native, produced a slugging percentage of .722 as she connected on three doubles. Sullivan takes home her first career weekly accolade.
Macenko made history this past week as she became the first pitcher in Horizon League history to record at least 20 wins in four seasons. The senior hurler tallied a 5-0 mark, pitching in 35 innings and striking out 48 batters. She is just seven strikeouts shy of CSU’s all-time record of 909. Macenko earns her third award of the season and the 13th of her career.
