Suscha Resigns as Butler Tennis Coach

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jason Suscha, who led the Bulldogs to nine conference championships over 15 seasons, has resigned his position as head tennis coach at Butler University. Suscha is leaving the program to pursue other opportunities.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege to work for what I consider a fantastic organization,” Suscha said. “We had a lot of success on the court and in the classroom. The things I take away most are the relationships with everyone from the student-athletes and the sports staff. Butler brings in such great, quality people and I had a great relationships with everyone involved.”

Suscha came to Butler in 1997 after coaching for two years at Vanderbilt. He quickly made the BU programs into winners, capturing three consecutive league men’s tennis titles from 1998-2000. After 2001, Suscha mentored the men’s tennis team to Horizon League championships from 2002-07.

Suscha was voted Horizon League Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year five times and coached the Horizon League Player of the year seven times.

In his 16 seasons leading the men’s tennis program, Suscha compiled a 202-169 record and an 84-19 mark against Horizon League opponents. He coached the women’s program for 13 seasons, finishing with a 160-149 record. Butler’s women’s tennis record against conference opponents under Suscha was 90-32.

A search for Suscha’s replacement will begin immediately.
