CHICAGO, Ill. – The top seeds held as Wright State knocked off Detroit Mercy in extra innings, meanwhile Valparaiso edged Oakland in a rain shortened game. Game three was rained out and will be played at 1:00pm ET tomorrow. All games will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

CHICAGO, Ill. – Honnah Susor played the hero role for Wright State scoring the game winning run after a throwing error on a triple brought her home in the bottom of the eighth inning against Detroit Mercy. Susor contributed to both of the Raiders’ runs in the game by knocking in a game-tying run in the fifth inning off of a triple.
It was a pitcher’s duel with Detroit Mercy’s Liz Murphy pitching the entire game for the Titans, striking out three batters and only allowing five hits. Wright State’s Ashley Sharp threw five innings striking out three batters as well in the no-decision before Ally Russell picked up the win.
Detroit Mercy’s lone run of the game was a Kara Vitale single in the top of the second inning that brought home Alyssa James to give the Titans the 1-0 lead.

Chicago, Ill. – A Gabby Magnifico solo home run in the bottom of the second proved to be the difference with the game being declared final after rain interrupted play in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The team’s combined for only three hits in the game with Oakland’s Erin Kownacki throwing four innings and allowing two hits while Valparaiso’s Kenzie Grossmann struck out five batters in five innings of work.
Valparaiso’s Sam Stewart reached base twice on walks to up her current streak of consecutive plate appearances reaching base to 13 which is fourth all-time in NCAA history.
