Horizon League Swimmers of the Week



Joey Weber
UW-Green Bay, Junior, Eden Prairie, Minn.
Weber helped lead the Phoenix to a pair of convincing duel meet wins last week. Friday afternoon against Butler, he finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.92) and the 100-yard butterfly (52.56) and was on the second-place 200-yard medley relay squad that placed behind a group of Phoenix teammates. Saturday in the win over UIC, Weber set a new Dorschel Natatorium pool record in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.40. He also swam the leadoff leg of the victorious 400-yard medley relay (3:29.45) and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.52).



Kristin Carlson
UW-Green Bay, Junior, Maple Grove, Minn.
Carlson paced the field in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.56) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.67) while finishing second behind a group of teammates as a member of the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.30) in a dual-meet win over Butler. The next day against UIC, Carlson was a member of the pool-record setting 400-yard freestyle relay team which finished in a time of 3:33.90. She also won the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.50) and the 100-yard free (53.66).



Horizon League Divers of the Week



Phillip Zumstein
UW-Green Bay, Jr., Mundelein, Ill.
Zumstein posted the top scores on both diving boards with marks of 283.57 on the 1-meter and 298.58 on the 3-meter against Butler on Friday. On Saturday against UIC, he earned two more victories with scores of 293.85 on the 1-meter board and 308.78 on the 3-meter. Zumstein won all four events by an average of 49 points.



Erin Blemberg
UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Appleton, Wis.
Blemberg won both the 1-meter (275.92 points) and the 3-meter (297.38) diving events at the meet against Air Force. This was the fourth time this season that Blemberg won both diving events at the same meet.



Other Top Performances

Chase Gravengood
UW-Milwaukee, So., Oconomowoc, Wis.
Gravengood earned victories in two events against Air Force, topping the field in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. He won the 200 IM by over four seconds, touching the wall in 1:58.05 before winning the 100 fly in 51.89.



Blake Booher
UIC, Jr., Barrington, Ill.
The third-year sprint-freestyler picked up three individual victories and guided three relays to first place. He won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.18 and anchored the victorious 200 medley relay (1:34.78) and 200 freestyle relay (1:23.38) against Ball State on Friday night. Booher then won both the 50 freestyle (21.13) and 100 freestyle (47.65) while finishing off the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:10.27) against UW-Green Bay.



Scott Lang
Wright State, So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
Lang took first place in two events against Louisville on Saturday with wins in the 500 freestyle (4:40.54) and the 1000 free (9:41.23).



Bjorn Schantz
Cleveland State, Jr., Loddekopinge, Sweden
Schantz claimed a pair of wins in the distance events against Xavier and Duquesne, posting times of 4:38.17 in the 500 free and 9:32.91 in the 1,000 free. He also swam the third leg of the 400 free relay, helping the team to a second-place finish.



Jason Brozek
Butler, Jr., Great Bend, Kan.
Brozek posted strong times in both the 100-yd. breaststroke (1:03.90) and 200-yd. breaststroke (2:18.6) Friday in a Horizon League meet against UW-Green Bay.



Jeff Jasinowski
UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Bayside, Wis.
Jasinowski was a winner in the 1-meter event at Air Force, scoring 286.04 points. He was also UWM's top finisher on the 3-meter board, placing second with 272.77 points.



Mark Pappalardo
UIC, Jr., La Grange, Ill.
Pappalardo led the Flames in both diving events against Ball State on Friday, winning the 3-meter with a score of 272.10 and placing second on the 1-meter (266.40). He also led UIC on the 3-meter board against UW-Green Bay (252.45) and finished third on the 1-meter board.



Chris Dalman
Cleveland State, So., Auburn, Wash.
In his first meet with the Vikings, Dalman gave five-time diver of the week Thatcher Carr about all he could handle in an exhibition showing. He scored a 319.05 in the one-meter boards to finish just short of Carr's 319.85 and scored a three-meter score of 317.90. Both scores are top-five marks in the Horizon League this season.

Marianne Lionell
Cleveland State, Jr., Sodetajle, Sweden
Lionell posted a pair of the Vikings' strongest efforts against Duquesne and Xavier on Jan. 14, claiming a win in the 100 freestyle (53.67) and a second-place time in the 200 IM (2:14.99). She also led off the second-place 400 freestyle relay team with a 100 free leg of 55.24.



Svetlana Nepocatych
Wright State, Sr., Kaunas, Lithuania
Nepocatych won two events in the Raiders' meet with Louisville on Saturday, earning victories in the 50 free and 100 free with times of 24.83 and 53.59, respectively.



Andrea Giczewski
UIC, So., Livonia, Mich.
Giczewski swam a second-place 200 backstroke against UW-Green Bay with a time of 2:12.57. She also placed second in the 100 freestyle amidst a crowded field in a double dual meet against Ball State and Illinois State on Friday, swimming a career-best 53.66. Giczewski also swam a leg in all four of the Flames' season-best relay times over the weekend.



Olivia Arnold
Youngstown State, Fr., Rutherglen, Australia
Arnold won three events and set the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle Saturday at Akron. Arnold swam a time of 10:42.71 in the 1,000 free to break Jordan Dunn's record of 10:43.86 that was recorded last year. She also picked up wins in the 500 free (5:17.21) and the 200 IM (2:17.31).



Molly Finn
UW-Milwaukee, Fr., Pewaukee, Wis.
Finn picked up two wins in the Panthers' meet at Air Force, including the 200 IM (2:12.52) and the 100 butterfly. When adjusted for altitude, her time of 58.85 in the 100 fly breaks the UWM freshman record in the event, held by Crystal Varadi (59.23).



Elaine Mohler
Butler, Fr., Plainfield, Ind.
Mohler just missed a season best in the 1000-yd. freestyle (13:08.05), but got to the wall in a season-best time of 5:38.78 in the 400-yd. individual medley Friday in a Horizon League meet against UW-Green Bay.



Kelly Reese
Youngstown State, Fr., Canfield, Ohio
Reese placed second in the 3-meter (226.93) and fourth in the 1-meter (211.73) against Akron on Saturday.



Caitlin Carey
UIC, Sr., Buffalo, NY
Carey led the team in both diving events at UW-Green Bay, scoring a 210.60 on the 1-meter board and a second-place 232.58 on the 3-meter board.



Sarah Wyant
Wright State, Jr., Hamilton, Ohio
Wyant was the top Raider diver on Saturday against Louisville, finishing first in the 1-meter with a score of 244.50 and second in the 3-meter with a 242.78.
