Horizon League Swimmers of the Week

 

Damian Kurtyka

UW-Green Bay, Freshman, Toronto, Ontario

Kurtyka finished first in all three events he competed in during Friday night's victory over UW-Milwaukee. He touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.78) and the 100 free (47.31), while swimming a leg on the victorious 400 medley relay (3:31.60).

 

Allison Kreb

UW-Green Bay, Senior, Maple Grove, Minn.

Kreb had three great swims in Friday night's win over in-state rival UW-Milwaukee, starting off with her breaststroke relay split in the winning 400 medley relay, with a time of 1:05.05. She then followed up her relay performance with a season-best time in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:10.67 to place third. She then ended her evening by handing UWM's Lindsay Caldwell her first non first-place finish since Oct. 21 (26 races) in winning the 200 breaststroke with a season best time of 2:23.64.

 

Horizon League Divers of the Week

 

Phillip Zumstein

UW-Green Bay, Junior, Mundelein, Ill.

Zumstein continued his impressive junior season by sweeping the diving titles in Friday night's dual win over UW-Milwaukee. He won the 1-meter with a score of 296.40 and the 3-meter with a mark of 331.84.

 

Erin Blemberg

UW-Milwaukee, Senior, Appleton, Wis.

Blemberg dominated the diving action on Friday versus Green Bay, winning both boards with NCAA Zone Diving qualifying point totals. She scored 279.90 points to win the one-meter event and then 288.52 points on the three-meter for the victory, leading a strong contingent for UWM in the diving events. This marked the sixth time this season she has won both events at the same meet.

 

Other Top Performances

 

Robby Leibold

UW-Milwaukee, Fr., Neenah, Wis

Leibold won the 1000 freestyle, tying David Faust's Panther freshman record with his time of 9:41.07 in the event and beating the field by over seven seconds. He placed second in the 500 free as well, touching the wall in 4:47.25.

 

Jeff Jasinowski

UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Bayside, Wis.

Jasinowski had a strong showing against UW-Green Bay, placing second on both boards to GB's Phil Zumstein. Jasinowski registered 271.80 points on the one-meter board and 300.30 points on the three.

 

Lindsay Caldwell

UW-Milwaukee, Jr., West Bend, Wis.

Caldwell won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.49 and the 100 freestyle in 52.61, easily outdistancing the field in both to extend her consecutive win streak to 26-straight races on the year. Later in the event, Green Bay's Allison Kreb (2:23.64) defeated Caldwell (2:29.28) in the 200 breaststroke to end the long streak. The last time Caldwell had lost was Oct. 21, a span of nearly four months.
