Horizon League Swimmers of the Week

 

Robby Leibold

UW-Milwaukee, Fr., Neenah, Wis.

Leibold won the 400 IM, 500 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle en route to being named the Swimmer of the Meet at the Doug Coers Invitational. He won the 500 in 4:47.64, the 1650 free in 16:35.35 and the 400 IM in a time of 4:17.08.

 

Lindsay Caldwell

UW-Milwaukee, Junior, West Bend, Wis.

Caldwell won three individual events at the Doug Coers Invitational over the weekend, earning the Swimmer of the Meet award. She posted victories in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.25, the 100 freestyle in 52.71 and the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:06.35. She also swam on three second-place relay teams for the Panthers.

 

Horizon League Divers of the Week

 

Thatcher Carr

Cleveland State, Sr., Russell, Ohio

Carr continued his winning ways in the City College Meet on Nov. 16, topping his Horizon League top score in the one-meter with a 383.90 and tallying a 370.00 in the three-meter event.  With the pair of wins, he extended his dual meet winning streak to 24 and has failed to score below 300 in all of them.

 

Erin Blemberg

UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Appleton, Wis.

Blemberg continues her impressive senior season, winning both of the diving events on the weekend. She won the one-meter event with 263.20 points and topped the competition on the three-meter board with 306.90 points.

 

Other Top Performances- November 15-21

 

Bjorn Schantz

Cleveland State, Jr., Loddekopinge, Sweden

Schantz came within a second of breaking the 23-year-old Cleveland State record in the 200 freestyle in the City College Meet on Nov. 16, swimming the event in a Horizon League top time of 1:40.28.  The current mark of 1:39.39 was set by Rui Abreu in 1982.  Additionally, Schantz posted a 47.60 in the 100 free and swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 free relay team (1:27.10).

 

Jeff Jasinowski

UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Bayside, Wis.

Jasinowski led the Milwaukee diving team at the Doug Coers Invitational, taking second on the three-meter board and third in the one-meter event.

 

Mark Pappalardo

UIC, Jr., LaGrange, Ill.

Pappalardo won the one-meter diving event over Saint Louis and Western Illinois with a career-best 316.10. He later took second in the three-meter event with a 318.20.

 

LeRoy Stevens

UIC, Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill.

Stevens jetted to the top of the Horizon League Men's 100-yard freestyle standings with a season-best 46.75 to take the event victory over Saint Louis and Western Illinois. Stevens also finished off the victorious 400 medley relay and led off the winning 400 freestyle relay.

 

Leslie Jones

Cleveland State, So., Mentor, Ohio

Jones put up some of her best times of the season in the City College Meet on Nov. 16, winning the 100 freestyle in 54.38, swimming to a 25.31 in the 50 freestyle and helping the 200 free relay team to a win and season-best time (1:43.05) with a lead-off leg of 25.47.

 

Collen Dougherty

UIC, So., Woodstock, Ill.

Dougherty had a big day against Western Illinois and Saint Louis, winning two sprint free events. The second-year speedster won the 50 free in 24.91 and took a 100 free victory in 54.67.

 

Olivia Arnold

Youngstown State, Fr., Rutherglen, Australia

Arnold won the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:14.39) and finished second in the 500 free (5:15.14) as the Youngstown State swimming team competed in the three-day Radford University Thanksgiving Invitational over the weekend. She also moved into fifth-place all-time in the 200 breast with a personal-best time of 2:35.94 and into eighth in the 200 free with a personal-best time of 2:01.56.

 

Caitlin Carey

UIC, Sr., Buffalo, NY

Carey won the three-meter event versus Saint Louis and Western Illinois last weekend with an NCAA Zone C qualifying score of 290.50. She also placed second on the one-meter board with a tally of 252.70.
